More than 15,000 people are believed to have been killed and tens of thousands more injured in the devastating earthquake that rocked Turkey and Syria on Monday, February 6th, 2023. Thousands of buildings collapsed in two countries, and millions of people affected by this terrible earthquake are being displaced thanks to the rescue forces.

Large-scale rescue efforts are underway with the support of the global community in search and recovery operations. Meanwhile, agencies have warned that the death toll from the disaster could rise significantly higher. The World Health Organization (WHO) forecasts that the number of casualties may exceed 20,000, 23 million people have been affected by the earthquake, including 1.4 million children.
